NCV residents are invited to the Autumn Formal Dinner to be held at 7pm on Thursday 16 March in the New College Dining Room. The dress code is "Cocktail" (so guys in suits and the ladies looking nicely dressed in a party dress or Formal Wear from your country of origin - as your Senior Resident if you are not sure what the dress code means).
The speaker for the Formal Dinner will be Professor Matthew England. Professor England obtained his PhD in 1992 from the University of Sydney. He is a former Fulbright Scholar and was a postdoctoral research fellow at the Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique, France (CNRS), from 1992-1994. He was a research scientist in CSIRO’s Climate Change Research Program and was a CSIRO Flagship Fellow in 2005. He has been with the University of New South Wales since 1995, where he held an ARC Federation Fellowship from 2006-2010. He commenced an ARC Laureate Fellowship in 2011 and is presently Deputy Director of the UNSW Climate Change Research Centre. In 2014 Prof England was elected a Fellow of the Australian Academy of Science and in 2016 a Fellow of the American Geophysical Union. His research explores global-scale ocean circulation and the influence it has on regional climate, large-scale physical oceanography, ocean modelling, and climate processes, with a particular focus on the Southern Hemisphere.
We will also be joined by members of the New College Board and will acknowledge NCV residents who won academic prizes in 2016.
Attendance at the dinner is free for NCV Residents but you must RSVP by 5pm on March 9 to be able to attend. Use the code RESIDENT to book your seat.
