Each year, New College offers several equity-based scholarships and bursaries to support residents with specific needs or disadvantages. Details about our 2024 scholarships and application process can be found below.

Apply to live at New College
Complete a successful application for residency at New College, including interview with the Dean Of Residents. Start an application here
Complete the scholarships form
Once you have successfully applied to the College, complete this scholarship form and return an electronic copy to the Dean Of Residents.
We assess your application
Your application will be assessed and, if successful, the scholarship or bursary will generally be awarded after the start of the academic year.

Scholarships for 2024
New College Rural & Regional Faculty-Based Undergraduate Scholarships
Value: $2000 per scholarship
New College offers a suite of scholarships to assist rural & regional students enrolled in each faculty at UNSW.

New College, Regional NSW Scholarships
Value: $2000 per scholarship
In 2024, there will be up to three Regional Scholarships available for each of the nine NSW regions (outside of metropolitan Sydney). We encourage applicants from regional NSW to apply based on the following regional zones:
- Central West & Orana
- Far West
- Newcastle & Hunter
- Central Coast
- Illawarra-Shoalhaven
- New England & North West
- North Coast
- Riverina Murray
- South East & Tablelands
NSW regions are defined by the NSW Government map at: https://transportnsw.info/regions#/.
Applicants must also be able to demonstrate financial hardship.
New College Access Accommodation Scholarship
Value: up to $6000
Access Scholarships are given to students whose financial situation would otherwise prevent them experiencing all New College has to offer.
Indigenous Scholarships
Value: up to $6000
Indigenous scholarships assist eligible students who can't afford the full cost of living in College and who will contribute to community life. Applicants must demonstrate academic merit, leadership qualities, and potential to contribute to community life at New College.
Alumni Scholarship
Value: up to $4000
The Alumni Scholarship is offered thanks to generous New College alumni who want to give deserving students the same enriching opportunities they experienced at College. Applicants must be able to demonstrate financial need, academic merit, leadership qualities, community participation, and potential to contribute to community life at New College.
Founders' Bursary
Value: up to $6000
This bursary was instituted in 2002 by the New College Board to honour the founders of the College. Recipients must maintain a distinction average or higher.
Bible Society Young Scholars
Value: up to $2000-$5000
This program promotes Christian scholarship amongst those living at New College while they study at UNSW. The primary expectation of the Young Scholar is to research a topical issue over the course of the year and produce one substantial or two shorter works of Christian scholarship. It’s also expected that Bible Society Young Scholars participate in the life of New College.
Jared Pritchard Memorial Scholarship
Value: up to $6000
Jared Pritchard lived at New College for four years but very sadly passed away in December 2010. In honour of Jared's immense creative talent, this scholarship is awarded to a student who will contribute to the creative and performing arts in the College community.
Bursary Assistance
Value: $500-$3000
A limited amount of bursary assistance is available, based primarily on financial need, with academic merit and other special needs also being considered.
