People started gathering in the Main Common and Dining Room from 6pm for pre-dinner drinks. Alumni enjoyed a New College exhibition which included images of College life, building (refurbishment) project pictures and information, an art exhibition of students work, College (year) magazines, information literature, memorabilia and musical performances. Alumni took advantage of the opportunity to look at the new improvements to the College building.

During the dinner there was a wonderful musical item; Carl Jenkins' Adiemus performed by the New College Wind Quartet with Piano.

There were interviews profiling a current student Andrew Ireland and recent alumnus Emily McPherson which provided interesting and informative snap shots of their lives in and out of New College.

Mr Ross Fox (New Collegian 1995-1998) was Guest Speaker at the dinner. Mr Fox provided interesting insights and observations to the differences and similarities between study & life at Oxford and the University of NSW, particularly his residential College experiences at New College UNSW and New College Oxford. Mr Fox touched on Aboriginal issues and multiculturalism in his keynote address.

Twenty-four of the newest New College Alumni, the 2004 leavers, were formally welcomed into the New College Alumni Association during the dinner, they were presented with Alumni certificates by Acting Vice-Chancellor Prof John Ingleson.
