Two Habitat for Humanity Global Village teams were sent from New College in the July mid year break vacation. One team went to Fiji and one to Cambodia. This community service has become an annual tradition for New Collegians since the first New College team went to Fiji in 2004. In 2005 a single team visited the Philippines.
Through volunteer labour and generous donations of money, time and materials, Global Village teams build simple, decent houses with the help of the homeowner ‘partner’ families.
This year is the third successive year New Collegians teaming up with global charitable organisation Habitat for Humanity International to build houses.
Habitat seeks through the involvement of volunteers to eliminate poverty housing and homelessness from the world, and to make decent shelter a matter of conscience and action. Our New Collegians are helping to see this mission become a reality. This is their online information.
