The 2007 New College Play was held last week receiving popular acclaim and much applause. The production continued the twenty year tradition of New College annual dramatic productions. It was a entertaining and amusing production. The acting and production was of the highest standard.
A Midsummer Night's Dream is a romantic comedy by William Shakespeare written in the 1590s. It portrays the sometimes absurd adventures of four young Athenian lovers and a group of amateur actors, their interactions with the Duke and Duchess of Athens, Theseus and Hippolyta, and fairies who inhabit a moonlit forest. The play is one of Shakespeare's most popular and is performed often across the world.
The performance over three nights was dramatic and amusing. The more than 100 cast, crew, front of house team, promotions assistants, directors and producers were justified in receiving generous applause and expressions of admiration from the more than 500 people who attended the production.
