Another great College production!

The 2014 New College play was the farce by Neil Simon, Rumors. This was the second time Rumors has appeared in New College, with an earlier performance in 1996 directed by Sarah Adeney.

The comedy begins with Chris and Ken Gorman (played by Scarlett Stemler & Alex McKenzie) arriving to a dinner party to find one of their hosts with a gunshot wound to his ear and their other host nowhere to be found. As more guests arrive, a tangled web of lies develops as the characters try to protect reputations and discover the truth. Things heat up when the police arrive on the scene calling for an heroic Leonard Ganz (Rowan Thambar) to put the pieces together into a plausible and hilarious tale of love gone wrong.

The small cast of ten performed wonderfully, with a great energy and clearly enjoying their roles and working together. The set was brilliantly constructed (Bill Walton & Oliver Stirzaker) and artfully decorated (Rebecca Godwin & Callum Agnew), with many collegians helping out in countless ways for the three performances on 8-10 May.

Another great College production!
