Find out more about NCV resident Florencia Irena, her incredible academic achievements and life at home in Indonesia

Florencia IrenaFlorencia Irena, has been a resident at NCV for almost two years now and has achieved much in that time. An accomplished student and member of the NCV community, Florencia is in her 4th year studying computer engineering at UNSW and has plans to go on to work for Google Australia in 2017.

Originally from Indonesia, Florencia often competed in national and internal Maths and Science competitions during her schooling. Previously living with her sister in Sydney for 3.5 years , she has found the experience of living by herself an interesting adventure. Nervous at first, Florencia has adapted to make a home in the NCV community and is currently enjoying her student life at UNSW.

Her studies allow her to continue her passion for maths and science and her outstanding academic successes have seen her awarded prizes including the Google Third Year Prize, 3rd prize in the prestigious Quantium COMP 3311, the Microsoft Performance Prize for Year 3, 1st place in the Department of Defence, the Graduate Office COMP 3331 Prize, the CSE Undergraduate Performance Prize Year 3 and the Faculty of Engineering Dean’s Award.

When asked about NCV Florencia had this to say:

“Living in NCV has been really great. The people that live in NCV are very nice and I feel very welcome. The staff are also very helpful and hence I never feel troubled whenever I need help. I live in a studio room and I’ve found the accommodation to be very comfortable. Another thing I found great about NCV is the wonderful community life that it has. There are lots of social events (weekly supper, BBQ nights, etc.), and also support for students living in NCV (academic tutors, senior residences, etc.). When I’m not busy with assignments, I participate in these events and it's great to meet people from all over the world that live in NCV as well.”
