I am from Attunga, NSW, which is roughly seven hours North West of Sydney. The population of Attunga is about 500 people.

The Jared Pritchard Memorial Scholarship is named in memory of a very talented and creative young man who lived at New College for four years, but who sadly passed away in 2010. It is awarded each year New Collegians in recognition of their ability to contribute to the creative and performing arts.

Home for me is a wheat farm just north of a tiny town in the Riverina called Coolamon. So moving from a lot of dirt and space to a lot of buildings and cement (i.e. Sydney!) has been a big change to say the least. But coming to College has made it a good one. I miss the farm and my family but I've definitely found a home-away-from-home in being at New College.
College is a super easy environment in which one can make friends. In fact College O-week was more like "enforced friend-making week"....

I was born in Sydney, but lived in a small country called Slovenia for roughly 18 years. Although we lived in Slovenia, we would visit Australia every few years, so I always felt like I had two homes. Because of that, Sydney felt both familiar and foreign at the same time, and moving here was that much more of a challenge. Leaving behind family and friends and dealing with a different culture and starting university was all together a big change.
Living at New College was the best way to start...
