Culture Night is one of the favourite nights of the year for the residents at NCV
Culture Night is one of the favourite nights of the year for the residents at NCV. Residents from a dozen of the 35 different countries currently represented in the building took the opportunity to prepare food to share with about 150 residents who came along to feast on Persian soup, Asian dumplings, Indian curries and eat Apple Pie (amongst a myriad of other cultural delicacies).
Many students donned traditional dress to celebrate the evening and showcase their rich cultures. A selection of music from around the world played as the vibrant aromas of many a childhood meal or family tradition were presented for others to try. Grandma’s Milk Tart from South Africa was a family recipe that many tried (and loved) for the first time.
There were different foods to try from Europe, the US, China, Hong Kong, Australia, India, Indonesia, Iran, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, the Philippines and a mix of African countries.
A long standing tradition, Culture Night offers the community of NCV another opportunity to learn about the world and celebrate cultural diversity in a fun, safe and welcoming environment.
Thanks to Senior Resident, Kirsten Gronhovd who took the lead in organising the diverse teams to present Culture Night on May 5.
