Last week, our 2020 New College Resident Adviser (RA) team took three days out to prepare for an exciting year in College. Every year, the RAs, along with the Dean of Residents (Jonathan Billingham), the Master (Bill Peirson) and their families, travel to the Central Coast to review College policy and practices on a range of pastoral care issues.

For the first time ever, they were joined by the College counsellor, Jenny Nixon, who provided some helpful insight into listening well and addressing pastoral concerns. The training this year also included discussions of our approach to the Coronavirus outbreak. Regular updates are being made available on the home page of the New College website:

Of course, there was time for RA bonding as well. The team enjoyed getting to know the Dean’s family, and Retreat would not be complete without walks by the beach, card games, and perhaps even a bit of fountain frolicking.
