Foundation Studies

Are you about to begin the Foundation Studies program at UNSW? We would love to welcome you to one of our communities.

Are you under 18 years old?

If you are starting a course through Foundation or Global Studies (whether it be a Diploma or Institute of Languages course), and you are under 18 years old, New College is the place for you. From day one, you will have plenty of opportunities to meet people and make friends, helped along by a wide variety of social, sporting and cultural events. You will find other students who have arrived from overseas, but there are also many students who have moved from regional areas in Australia and from elsewhere in Sydney. Our Dean of Residents and team of Resident Advisers are available for pastoral care, and our team of Academic Tutors provide academic support. New College is fully catered and provides a weekly laundering service for bed linen.

Are you over 18 years old?

If you are starting a course through Foundation or Global Studies (whether it be a Diploma or Institute of Languages course), and you are over 18 years old, which community you live in will depend on your degree program and stage of life. We would generally encourage undergraduates to live at New College, which primarily accommodates younger students who are new to university. New College Postgraduate Village (NCPV) is definitely the community for you if you are a postgraduate student, especially if English is an additional language or dialect for you. NCPV is also open to undergraduates seeking more independent living. At NCPV, there is a Dean Of Residents and teams of Senior Residents and Academic Tutors dedicated to pastoral care and academic support. This community offers self-catered and partially-catered options in apartment and studio-style living. Social, sporting, cultural events and academic events regularly bring the community together.
