Conference & Group Accommodation

As multi-purpose venues with built-in accommodation, New College and New College Postgraduate Village are fantastic places for group functions during the summer.

Accustomed for providing a live-in community experience for up to 562 students throughout the academic year, both venues are designed to provide full service accommodation during the UNSW Summer break, with hired venue spaces and catering, and can be tailored for group conferences, school camps, seminars, meetings and formal dinners and much more.

Our full service accommodation is only available in the UNSW Summer break between mid-December and mid-January when resident rooms are vacant. Hiring our venue spaces with catering is available all year round. (Please see Venue Hire information)

We are conveniently situated on the UNSW campus, located close to the Sydney Airport or an easy bus or light rail ride from Central station, with multiple beaches, parks, entertainment and other leisure activities all close by.

New College

The New College building accommodates 145 single bed student rooms (fitted with wardrobe and desk) over two upper levels connected by an enclosed, inner courtyard. These rooms shared bathrooms between 8 - 10 student rooms and common lounge areas between 16-20 student rooms altogether.

The inner courtyard is a great place for games and activities (not ball sports) with a Games and TV room. Certain styles of catered meals could also be arranged.

Both levels have 2 ensuite rooms each, suitable for group leaders, and 5 guest rooms are available on the ground room separate from the student rooms. Some student ensuite rooms do come with an accessible bathroom. An accessible toilet is available next to the 5 guest rooms.

The single bed and double bed guest rooms separate contain an ensuite bathroom and kitchenette, along with a desk, television and other furniture.

Venue Spaces

On the ground floor we have two function rooms - the Main Common Room and the adjoining Meeting Room.

Main Common Room

The Main Common Room can be set up in different seating configurations for up to 250 people. Such event styles could be for lectures, formal dinners or partitioned into two rooms for break out groups with a screen projection each.

Meeting Room

The Meeting Room can operate as a smaller formal lunch/dinner room, a breakout room or for TV conferencing.

AV equipment supplied in the Main Common Room, includes:

Wireless, vocal and podium microphones
Sound desk

The set up and control of AV equipment by New College staff is $35 per hour.

Live streaming equipment will have to be supplied and operated by the group.

We also hire out our grand piano for additional fee of $53 per hour.

Catering

The College arranges meals for group booking with 50 or more guests, so that guests may enjoy the college buffet kitchen with a self-serve salad bar. Each meal will offer a variety of options. All dietary restrictions are catered for.

The College cafe is opened based on demand for the purchase of barista coffee, confectionary and cold drinks.

UNSW Campus Amentities and Services

New College looks out directly on the UNSW Village Green, featuring a top of the range soccer field, with adjoining basketball and netball courts, outdoor gym equipment, table tennis and a rock climbing facility. Guests must bring their own sports equipment to enjoy them.

The College is a no alcohol, smoking or vaping venue.

New College Postgraduate Village (NCPV)

Function Rooms

The multi-purpose Main Common Room can be set up for lecture presentations for up to 60 people. It can also open onto the garden courtyards for outdoor entertaining.

The College has a no smoking or vaping policy.
